EVAC Welcomes New President
By Chief of Operations Nick Louros
July 5, 2017
On Wednesday, June 21, 2017 the Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corps (EVAC) held their annual Officer’s Elections. With EVAC’s current President Scott Mikos stepping down after 14 years of serving as an officer, it was time for a new leader. Running unopposed was Life Member Jude Valerioti. He stepped up and will serve a two year term as EVAC’s President/Chief Executive Officer. Jude joined EVAC in 1977 and has been an active member ever since. He’s a NYS certified Paramedic and has previously held numerous titles while at EVAC, including President from 2003-2013.
EVAC also welcomes volunteer members Nicholas Mardikian to the position of Vice President/Deputy Chief of Operations; Christine Demo to the position of Lieutenant, and Gustavo Torres as a Board of Directors member.
Nick joined EVAC in June 2012. He’s a NYS EMT and has previously served as a Lieutenant from 2015-2016. He has a degree in Psychology with a minor in Emergency Health Services from George Washington University, and he works in Business Continuity and Crisis Management.
Christine joined EVAC in November 2008. She holds her Bachelors of Science in Nursing, has a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Management, and has been working in the field of Nursing for the past 10 years.
On behalf of EVAC, I would like to personally say THANK YOU to Scott Mikos for his dedication and commitment to EVAC over the past 14 years while in office. He has been a role model to many members (including myself) over the years, and his leadership skills are exceptional. He will be missed in the office, but don’t worry because you will still be able to see him riding the ambulance and helping to train new members.
The 2017-2018 Officers of EVAC are as follows:
Congratulations to all the new officers of EVAC! I look forward to working with you over the next year.
